« This memorable adventure united 25 young individuals from various nations, cultures, religions, and traditions, fostering an environment for profound connections, learning, and personal evolution. Residing on a vintage sailing vessel, we delved into the realm of navigation—raising sails, collaborating as a team, and relishing life on the ocean. Beyond acquiring technical know-how, the true enchantment resided in our shared narratives, emotions, and aspirations. Through candid discussions, we examined urgent Mediterranean challenges: climate change, women’s rights, interfaith dialogue, and peace building. Each dialogue expanded my viewpoints and illuminated the importance of active listening—a skill I once found difficult but have come to value deeply.
Traveling through Turkey and Greece, we explored stunning nature reserves, historic and spiritual locations, and charming Greek islands. These experiences transcended mere tourism; they embodied the understanding of our common heritage and the pressing need for environmental stewardship. On a personal level, this expedition pushed me far outside my comfort zone. Severed from the internet and distanced from family, I embraced simplicity and human connection.
Most significantly, I identified common ground among diverse faiths, particularly between Islam and Christianity, strengthening my conviction in unity through dialogue. MED 25 became more than a journey—it evolved into a school of life. It imparted lessons in resilience, empathy, and the splendor of diversity. The relationships we forged and the insights we exchanged will eternally motivate me to serve as a bridge between cultures and a proponent for a sustainable, peaceful future. This experience not only transformed my mindset—it reshaped my heart. »
