Hamdi, Túnez

“During the two weeks I spent in Cyprus with Med25, focused on the theme of religions in dialogue, I had the opportunity to meet people from different nationalities, cultures, and faiths. This experience offered me a genuine space for exchange, respect, and mutual understanding.
As a Tunisian and a Muslim, I felt both a sense of responsibility and pride in representing my culture and my faith in this context of dialogue. I discovered that, despite our differences, meaningful conversations are possible when there is active listening, respect, and a sincere willingness to understand one another.
One of the moments that touched me the most was when some participants chose to join us during Muslim prayer, out of respect and curiosity. That gesture meant a lot to me. In return, I also attended a Christian mass, which allowed me to experience another way of living one’s spirituality, with openness and a spirit of sharing.
This experience also helped me reflect more deeply on my own faith. Listening to the stories and beliefs of others encouraged me to question, to grow, and to express my own beliefs more clearly and openly.
What struck me the most is that dialogue didn’t only happen in structured discussions. It happened in simple, everyday moments: shared meals, group activities, silent reflections, and shared laughter. Those moments created strong, human connections.
In summary, this experience taught me a lot — about others, about myself, and about the importance of building bridges between religions. It also allowed me to proudly carry my Tunisian Muslim identity into a space of peace and mutual respect. These are two weeks I will never forget.”
