About
The seventh stage of the MED 25 Le Bel Espoir odyssey will delve into the more detailed issue of the diversity of Christianities in the Mediterranean. On this Italian shore of the Adriatic, opportunities for both junction and rupture have repeatedly arisen between the Christian communities of the East and West. Faced with the challenges of peace, Christians cannot be satisfied with the ruptures of the past. They bear the heavy burden of developing spaces for collaboration so as not to let the tensions of the past poison the challenges of the present. The search for the unity of Christianities is not only a theological question; it is also a mission in the service of peace.
"Encounter and unity must always be sought without fear of diversity. And likewise peace: it must be cultivated, including in the arid terrains of opposition, because today, whatever happens, there is no possible alternative to peace. Truces secured by walls or tests of strength will not bring peace; but it is the real will to listen and to dialogue that will.", Pope Francis, Ecumenical Meeting, Bari, 2018.
