About

The fourth stage of the MED 25 Le Bel Espoir odyssey takes us to visit the religious riches of the Mediterranean basin. There are certainly the three great monotheistic traditions that emerged on its shores. But there are also the inestimable remains of very ancient religions that are still precious for understanding human history, whether in Egypt, Greece or the Middle East. The discovery of the demands of reason was also the great event that changed man's relationship with infinity and the unknown beyond death. Called to enter into an ever more fruitful dialogue, religion and reason will set out to find the truth that leads to freedom and peace.

"We bear witness to the importance of reviving the religious sense and the need to revive it in the hearts of new generations, through healthy education and adherence to moral values and just religious teachings, to confront individualistic, selfish, conflictual tendencies, radicalism and blind extremism in all its forms and manifestations." Joint statement by Pope Francis and Grand Imam Ahmad Al-Tayyeb.
