Conversation hosted by Julien Loizeau 

A founding member of the Collège de Méditerranée, Julien Loiseau is a historian and Arabist, professor of the history of the medieval Islamic world at Aix-Marseille University, and researcher at the Institute for Research and Studies on the Arab and Muslim Worlds (IREMAM, Aix-en-Provence). He is also a former member of the French Institute of Oriental Archaeology and the former director of the French Research Center in Jerusalem.

Invited for a dialogue with the young people who participated in MED25. 

Yaël GRONNER – Weavers of Peace

Coach, trainer, researcher and facilitator, Yaël Gronner supports SMEs, large companies, associations and local authorities by facilitating the implementation of collective intelligence processes. A doctor in sociology from the EHESS, she also studied philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.-Founder and member of the Visions Collectives association, she co-founded the Weavers of Peace collective, which brings together Jewish, Christian, and Muslim women in France who come together to talk, listen, and build bridges across divides. This collective was formed with the conviction that, in the face of incomprehension and suffering, dialogue, listening, and sharing are essential ways forward.

Marie-Laure GUIDI – MarseilleS, Marseille in the plural

 Marie-Laure Guidi is president of the Marseille endowment fund, which supports local social entrepreneurs and impactful community projects. Locally engaged, it is also involved in the collective MarseilleS – Marseille in the plural which brings together academics, journalists and business leaders to combat divisions and schisms within Marseille society.

Rafael TYSZBLAT – AntiClash

 Rafaël Tyszblat has been involved in mediation, training, and the design of educational programs aimed at fostering mutual understanding and conflict resolution for over 20 years. He is the co-founder of Connecting Actions and the European Institute for Dialogue, two non-governmental organizations dedicated to promoting dialogue. He is the founder of the AntiClash podcast, which gives voice to people who have real disagreements on issues that divide society.

Currently a Senior Policy Advisor at the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), Frédéric de Dinechin joined the UfM in 2023 after spending ten years at the Council of Europe Development Bank. A graduate of the École Polytechnique in France, he is co-founder of the association Alumni for the Planet whose mission is to mobilize higher education graduates to take action for the climate and the environment in their companies.

Hamed ALAOUI – Muslim values and spirituality in France

Hamed Alaoui is vice-president of the Marseille branch of the association Muslim values and spirituality in France (VSMF) who participates in interfaith meetings. Professor of literature and history and lecturer in communication, he is a disciple of the Qadiriyya Boutchiciyy Sufi path.

Religious of Franciscan spirituality, in charge of the Morocco mission for the Catholic Delegation for Cooperation (DCC), an organization of the Church of France which sends International Solidarity Volunteers all over the world, with the objective of sustainable development.

Alexandre PASTOR – Melting Pot

 Alexandre Pastor is a Marseille-based social entrepreneur. He founded Melting Pot, an association that educates young people aged 11 to 25 about political and civic life. Its goal is to combat electoral abstention by making politics more accessible and understandable. Melting Pot works in middle schools, high schools, social centers and sports clubs, offering interactive workshops on the functioning of institutions, democratic issues and electoral mechanisms.

Dominique SANTELLI – DERRE/ISTR and network Alwan

Dominique Santelli, head of a school in Marseille, is involved in the Adyan Foundation's Alwan project, an educational initiative dedicated to promoting inclusive citizenship. This project aims to foster identification alongside others rather than in opposition, by reinforcing the values of openness to diversity, respect, and solidarity. Co-head of the Department of Studies and Research on Religions at the School and the Institute of Sciences and Theology of Religions, she has published, with Christian Salenson, Religions at school: meeting Islam.

French radio and television journalist and writer Gérard Grizbec was head of the foreign policy department of France 2 and author of several works on geopolitics. He has produced numerous reports in the Arab world and has also been a correspondent in Italy and the Vatican, then in Africa. A former student of the University of Aix-Marseille, he began his career as a history professor.

Katia Mrowiec – Allmep (Alliance for Peace in the Middle East)

Katia Mrowiec is a member of the Allmep board. She is the founder of the Kaleidoscope Foundation, which works for diversity, inclusion, and social cohesion. Allmep is a coalition of more than 170 organizations (Palestinian and Israeli NGOs), accompanied by local participants, whose objective is to promote cooperation, justice, equality, mutual understanding and peace in the region.

Marion Frelat – General Director of Coexister France since September 2024

Coexister is a popular education movement that offers young people aged 15 to 35 a positive experience of interfaith diversity. Each year, young people get involved in creating and leading events for encounters, dialogue, solidarity, and awareness-raising, open to all.

Bérengère Savelieff –  Head of Peace Training Education at Pax Christi

Bérengère Savelieff is responsible for peace education for the Pax Christi France association, an international Catholic movement for peace, andCommitted to non-violence, reconciliation, and social justice. She also serves as a delegate to UNESCO. She began her career as a social mediator in Paris, working primarily with Chechen refugees.

Alain CHOURAQUI – The Camp of a Thousand

 Alain Chouraqui is a research director emeritus at the CNRS and founding president of the Fondation du Camp des Milles – Mémoire et Éducation. He led the creation of the Camp des Milles memorial site, an internment and deportation camp that is still intact and has become a place of remembrance and civic education. He is also the scientific director of the UNESCO Chair in “Education for Citizenship, Human Sciences and the Convergence of Memories.”
