On its news site, Made In Marseille asks: what is this three-master that is taking 200 young people on board to sow peace in the Mediterranean?
"It's an extraordinary and unique project: Med 2025. For eight months, the three-masted ship The Beautiful Hope will embark 200 young people of all nationalities and faiths. Objective: to build peaceful relations on the shores of the Mediterranean.
" On a boat, we are forced to meet each other. Whether we like it or not. " This is the leitmotif of peace that will lead to this extraordinary experience lasting eight months. It involves embarking on a 29-meter three-masted ship, The Beautiful Hope, 200 young people of all nationalities, cultures and religions.
They come from the five shores of the Mediterranean. From North Africa to the Middle East, from the Black or Aegean Sea to the Balkans and Europe. These cabin boys will sail around this sea that some consider the cradle of civilizations, from March to October 2025.
Please note that this expedition, called Med 2025, has nothing to do with an integration or training course for maritime professions, as we saw on the Belem ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games. It is a peace training ", insists Alexis Leproux, episcopal vicar for Mediterranean relations in the diocese of Marseille."
