About
The sixth stage of the MED 25 Le Bel Espoir odyssey will listen to migrants who, at the risk of their lives, cross the sea or the mountains, in search of a space of peace to recover their dignity. Faced with a high-risk demographic winter, some Mediterranean societies are faced with the immense challenge of welcoming people uprooted by war, famine or more simply inhabited by a dream, that of a better life. Against indifference and fear, attentive listening to their journey sheds light on the right decisions that must be taken to prevent this cultural cradle from becoming a cemetery. In the dual dynamic of the help required by the dangers of the sea and the mountains, and the hospitality that characterizes the value of a society, fair and common orientations for Mediterranean peoples can be defined.
“At a crucial time when migration policies are being revised in many regions and countries, it is essential that security concerns do not prevail over the human rights of migrants”, Felipe González Morales, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the rights of migrants.
