MED 25 Bel Espoir: eight months of navigation for a training ship for peace in the Mediterranean

On land with Mar Yam

In each country, 1 steering committee, 1 animation team and 1 logistics team.

The Mar Yam association, in partnership with the Diocesan Association of Marseille (ADM), offers “Mediterranean Meetings”, which take the form of training sessions bringing together actors from the Mediterranean rim.

It relies on a set of networks (faculties, schools, sanctuaries, dioceses, etc.) and contributes to developing a culture of encounter and dialogue.

The first meetings were held in Marseille in 2023 and the next ones will be held in Tirana in 2025. They will continue on the five banks during the year 2025.

At sea with the AJD

For each stage, 1 captain, 6 crew members, ADJ, 25 young people on board.

The Bel Espoir – AJD association implements the intuitions of the Jesuit Father Michel Jaouen: the mixing of people, in difficulty or not, for the benefit of all.

The AJD owns two three-masted schooners, as well as a fleet of small sailing, rowing and motor boats, from the island of Stagadon in the Iroise Sea, a shipyard for training in maritime professions, a base at Aber Wrach (Finistère) and a base in Marseille and Paris.

It is composed of a thirty active members, and its construction site forms a sixty young people per year.
